01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Along the atmospheric streets of Yanaka, Cafe Neko-e-mon makes its home inside an old wooden row house, inviting guests to craft their own personalized maneki-neko beckoning cat. The painting workshop—sitting down with pens to design the facial expressions and patterns on a small unglazed clay cat—has become a cherished interlude during strolls through the neighborhood. The painting activity comes as a set with a drink and confectionery, giving visitors a chance to pause and relax as their designs take shape.

The cafe menu is filled with similarly playful feline touches. Visually charming house-made desserts include a black-cat Mont Blanc, éclairs, and the cleverly named "Pan-neko-tta" panna cotta. The beverage list is equally broad, ranging from carefully brewed coffee and cat-mint soda to various teas and alcoholic options such as beer, making it easy to choose something to suit the mood.

Surrounded by the quiet rhythm of the traditional shitamachi streets, it provides a pleasant setting whether visiting solo or enjoying a hands-on creative session with company. Advance reservations are available for the cat-painting experience, and payments can be made by major credit cards, PayPay, and transit IC cards.
